Arts Award Bronze and Silver

Arts Award is a range of nationally recognised qualifications in the UK for children and young people up to age 25. It helps young people grow as artists and arts leaders, building creativity, confidence, and leadership skills through any art form or cultural activity rather than testing a specific technical skill level. 

Arts Award accepts any creative craft or cultural activity as long as it has clear artistic focus. 

However, here at Mams Gallery we focus on Visual Arts, Craft and Design, Literature, and Digital and Media.

Who is the arts awards for? 

Although it is designed for people aged 14-16, it is open to everyone between 11-25 years old.  

What’s the difference between bronze and silver?

-Qualification level; Bronze is Level 1 (similar to GCSE grades 1-3) whereas Silver is Level 2 (similar to GCSE grades 4-9)

-Total hours needed; Bronze= 60 hours Silver = 95 hours

-Leadership task; Bronze requires you to share an art skill with others briefly, whereas Silver requires you to plan, run, and review an entire arts project

-Independence; Bronze requires regular adult guidance where Silver requires a lot of independent work. 

Do I need to complete Bronze before Silver?

No you absolutely do not have to complete Bronze level first, however starting there can make earning your Silver award much easier as it builds core skills, reduces pressure, familiarises you with the system and gives you practice basic communication and sharing skills before your leadership project in Silver.
